Tampa Coffee Shops for Work
Working from home is amazing. But if you’re anything like me… it looks a lot more like laying down, making a snack, or scrolling my socials. And when you look up at the end of the week and discover you haven’t actually done anything — well, that’s a problem.
Thankfully, I have the freedom to work from anywhere. So, the same tasks that would take me all day at the house, I can get done in under 2 hours at a Tampa coffee shop. Fortunately, Tampa coffee shops provide the perfect environment (and free wifi) to focus on work.
Whether you’re drawn to drinks on demand, need to feel social, or want a quiet and cute area to tackle your to-do list, there’s Tampa coffee shops for work everywhere. If coffee just isn’t your thing, I’ve also added a few places that might be your “cup of tea.”
Grassroots Kava House
Grassroots is my current favorite spot to work in Tampa, and not just because it’s close to my house. This Tampa coffee shop is open late till 12am every day, which is perfect if you’re most productive at night. As the name suggests, they serve Kava, but they also offer coffee and a nice selection of tea. (I always grab a large iced Tahitian Dream tea!) They do have trivia on Monday nights, so if you’re easily distracted make sure to go on a different day.
They have locations in Seminole Heights, Ybor City, and St. Pete.
Blind Tiger
It doesn’t matter what location you choose, Blind Tiger offers one of the easiest places to concentrate. They have locations in Ybor, Seminole Heights, Westchase, etc. The only drawback is that most locations close at 2pm.
Foundation Coffee Ybor
There’s something so chill about working in Ybor City. During the day, this historic part of Tampa is quiet and relaxing with people lunching on the sidewalks or typing away inside.
Foundation Coffee has recently become a favorite of mine with several workspaces throughout the intimate space. You can choose to work from comfortable couches and seats (each of which has little tables so you can create a setup outside of your lap!). Or you can settle in at a traditional table, the coffee bar, or even at a shaded table outside in the back. As a bonus, there are outlets in each of these areas, so you don’t feel tethered to one spot all day.
Kahwa Coffee
Kahwa is your classic Tampa coffee shop where you’ll find people working, conversing, reading, etc. It can get a little busy and loud, but it’s a great spot to go for just a couple of hours. Plus, it stays open late (well, for a coffee shop) till 7pm most days and 6pm on Sundays.
Kahwa originated in St. Pete, but now has locations in South Tampa, Downtown Tampa, and throughout South Florida.
Felicitous
There are two locations near USF, but I’m partial to the one located on 51st St. It’s a little on the cozier side, but you can still almost always find a seat indoors or outdoors to work or chat with friends. They offer both coffee and tea, and you can’t go wrong with either!
Joffrey’s Midtown
This Tampa coffee shop in the new Midtown draws me in because of the natural light and the cute work spaces. Whether you choose to sit inside or work on the lawn, Joffrey’s is a great place to work with friends.
Plus, it’s right down the street from Whole Foods (and there’s nothing better than the Whole Foods hot bar for lunch).
Kaleisia Tea
This Tampa tea house is a great study spot near USF. There is a quiet room if you need to focus even more away from the noise. They offer a range of tea, boba, and even some food options. Their menu is especially intriguing for vegetarians and vegans.
The Lab
If you want a really nice cup of coffee during your workday, I recommend the Lab hands down. They pour what I would call “craft coffee,” and you can taste the difference. It’s super lowkey, but the only drawback is that it closes at 2pm daily.
The Lady and the Mug
I think the Lady and the Mug wins for the cutest coffee shop in Tampa — they even have a sign saying they’re the “most instagrammable.” They have comfy couches, swinging chairs, and traditional work areas to fit your vibe. Plus, you can browse all their quippy decor for a quick mental break.
Want to do a workday with a few friends? They have a separate room for groups of 4+ where you can chat and collab.
