Why Magnetic Lashes are My New Makeup Hack

Wearing Eylure ProMagnetic Lashes

Can I let you in on a secret that completely transformed how I do my makeup? MAGNETIC LASHES.

I don’t know what inspired me to pick up a pair at Ulta a little over a year ago, but it was fate.

For so long, I would struggle to put on traditional lashes. Believe me… I’ve tried time and time again to apply a thin but thick line of glue, wait for it to get to the perfect level of tackiness, then use the applicator to place it perfectly on my lash line. And every time, the corner lifts, or there’s a huge gap between my natural lashes and the falsies.

And I know… it’s probably user error. But how long can a girl go on like this?

Don’t get me wrong — I’m not saying some of those problems don’t exist with magnetic lashes, too. I’m completely convinced that the inner corner will lift no matter what you do.

But magnetic lashes are so much easier to apply than regular lashes, especially if you’re bad at putting on traditional falsies like I am. With magnetics, if you know how to use eyeliner, then you know how to apply lashes. It’s really that simple.

Now, I know you’re probably saying: “do magnetic lashes really work?” or “aren’t they so expensive?” Go with me here…

Despite what the reviews say, magnetic lashes definitely work. After reading through one-star reviews, I have to wonder whether those problems came from 1. Not applying enough eyeliner or 2. Lack of patience and practice

Fortunately, magnetic lashes range from super simple to more advanced (singles). If putting on eyeliner isn’t your thing, some magnetic lashes with no liner involve placing a layer of magnetized lashes on the top and one on the bottom and simply clicking them together.

Now, as for the price… Like with all things, it varies. They can range from $13 all the way to $70.  Generally, you can still find a pretty decent pair at a low price point. Not to mention, you can use them several times (up to 50 depending on the brand!), so magnetic lashes are worth it in the end.

My Magnetic Lashes Recommendation:

I’m not going to pretend like I’ve used so many magnetic lashes. But I’ve personally tried Ardell Magnetic Lashes (I didn’t love this one. The thick consistency of the potted liner made it hard to apply) and Eylure Magnetic Lashes. I also recently bought a pair from AsaVea on Amazon and will report back. And all of those are among the most affordable beginner brands, so I would suggest starting there.

AsaVea Magnetic Lashes Review Update: These turned out to be my favorite pair! Your order comes with two pair (one natural and one that’s fuller), a nice case for storage, and a very thick liner. It sweeps on easily, but it can feel a little gunky/heavier than other magnetic liners. The hold makes it worth it — you can wear them all day with no issues. I wasn’t a huge fan of the lash design themselves, but it will do for a starter pair.

However, my personal favorite is Eylure ProMagnetic Magnetic Eyeliner and Lash System!

Eylure is my absolute go-to brand. They offer wispy, accent, volume, natural and dramatic, so you can achieve any look you want. I’ve mainly been using the Faux Mink Volume, but I recently bought the dramatic, and I love them. The applicator is easy to use, and the liner just glides on.

How to apply magnetic lashes: Make sure to build up 3 layers of the liner, allowing them to dry between each application, so they stay put all day, especially on the inner corner. (Again, I think that’s just a universal lash issue, magnetic or otherwise).

I’m going to be honest. A lot of people don’t like the Eylure brand, but it’s what works for me right now. However, I’m starting to branch out to other brands and see what else is out there. Eventually, I want to try Glamnetic because they’ve been absolutely everywhere lately.

And I get it — magnetic eyelashes won’t be for everyone – or even for every eye look… because sometimes you just don’t want to wear eyeliner. But we all know just how much a set of lashes can instantly level up your makeup. So, if you’ve been wanting to try falsies, but can’t seem to get the hang of it, then magnetic lashes might be right for you.
